Sheikhzayed ready to run, Gabrial wins
15 January 2014
SHEIKHZAYEDROAD is set for his first race at the 2014 World Cup Carnival tomorrow when he contests a mile and a quarter handicap.
The five-year-old, trained by David Simcock, is drawn widest of all in the 12-strong field and will be ridden by Martin Lane.
Simcock said: "This is Sheikhzayedroad's first time at the Carnival and he travelled well last week. He has improved from four to five and his work
has been good." The trainer also indicated that he expects the distance may be a bit on the sharp side for Sheikhzayedroad but that there are no races at a mile and a half and upwards for another three weeks.
Meanwhile at Kempton tonight, there was a third winner within 48 hours for Trillium Place.
Gabrial The Boss, ridden by Luke Morris, landed a one-mile claiming race by a length.
