Modernism wins again

01 February 2014

MODERNISM continued his progression with a smooth success in a nine-furlong handicap at Wolverhampton on Friday evening.

The son of Monsun was winning for the fourth time on an artificial surface this winter and last night’s victory was arguably his most impressive to date.

He missed a beat at the start but jockey Jamie Spencer soon had him travelling strongly towards the rear.

He moved up to make his challenge rounding the final bend and picked up well to strike the front inside the closing stages.

Spencer pushed him out under hands and heels to win comfortably by a length and a quarter.

The winning jockey said: “He missed the start but he was the best horse in the race.”
