Dream Ahead crowned Cartier Champion Sprinter of 2011

16 November 2011

DREAM Ahead was crowned Cartier Champion Sprinter of 2011 at their awards ceremony in London last night. Khalifa Dasmal’s colt won three Group 1s this season; the July Cup, the Haydock Sprint Cup and when beating Goldikova in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp. Combined with his victories in the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes as a two-year-old, Dream Ahead was unbeaten at six furlongs and has been recognised as one of the best sprinters of recent years. The son of Diktat saw off opposition from Prohibit, Deacon Blues, Society Rock and Bated Breath for this prestigious prize. Established in 1991 to reward excellence in horseracing, the eight Cartier Awards for horses are determined by points earned by horses in Pattern races throughout 2011, combined at the end of the season with the opinions of a panel of racing journalists and votes from readers of the Racing Post and The Daily Telegraph.
