Waveguide wins at Lingfield

WAVEGUIDE lost her maiden status when running out the winner of a 1m 2f handicap at Lingfield this afternoon.
The five-year-old mare has had several near misses in the past, finishing runner-up on three previous occasions.
Indeed, trainer David Simcock's charge was second last time out at Southwell last week, but went one better today in the hands of apprentice rider Lewis Walsh.
The 7lb claimer made most in the six-runner contest, judging the pace to perfection.
Walsh ensured that 9/2 chance Waveguide had sufficient up her sleeve to repel a couple of sustained challenges inside the closing strides, going on to strike by a neck.
