Walsh to the fore

21 February 2014

APPRENTICE Lewis Walsh this afternoon continued his fine association with Waveguide by riding her to a second successive victory.
Two weeks after the 7lb claimer partnered the David Simcock-trained mare to a first career victory, the deadly double act repeated the trick at Lingfield.
Walsh judged the pace of the mile and a quarter handicap to perfection. In a small field, he popped his mount of the stalls to assume an early control and never looked back.
The expected challenge of the favourite Candy Kitten never really materialised and instead it was the outsider of the four, Meddling, who came with a run up the inner.
But Walsh and Waveguide had the move covered with Simcock's charge showing admirable battling qualities in staying on for a three-quarter length triumph.
