Pintura returns to winning ways

11 May 2012

PINTURA returned to the winners’ circle with a game success in a 7f handicap at Chester this afternoon. Dr Marwan Koukash’s gelding has been a victim of his consistency in recent months, getting very little rest bite from the handicapper despite not having won since 2010. However, it all went right for him this afternoon and, having travelled well under Jamie Spencer, he hit the front with two furlongs to go. He drifted under pressure towards the centre of the track, in turn knocking the eventual runner-up Grissom. The judge was needed to split them at the finish but Pintura got the vote by a short head. A stewards’ enquiry was called but they concluded that the interference did not affect the result. David said: “This horse has been so consistent I’m so pleased for him and his owner that he has won.”
