Captain Morley lands Chester spoils

31 May 2014

CAPTAIN Morley was a game winner of the 1m4f handicap at Chester this afternoon.

The son of Hernando was in front a long time under Adam Kirby, having kicked for home with three furlongs to run.

He was idling inside the final furlong but the line came in time and he held the fast-finishing Old Town Boy by three-quarters of a length.

Earlier in the afternoon, Breton Rock produced a career best when narrowly touched off in the Group 3 Jury Stakes at Haydock.

There were also creditable performances from Apostle, who was second in a seven furlong handicap at Chester, and Modernism, a game third in the competitive 1m4f handicap at Newmarket.
