Short head success for Can’t Change It

02 June 2014

CAN’T Change It edged a thrilling seven-furlong handicap at Cheptsow this afternoon to secure a second career success.
Mrs Fitri Hay’s gelding by Verglas got up to win in the final stride in the hands of jockey Fergus Sweeney.
Can’t Change It was held up at the rear as Pashan Garh cut out the running – a situation that didn’t change until late in the piece.
Sweeney got the David Simcock-trained 3/1 favourite rolling in the final stages on the stands rail – while the long-time leader drifted towards the far side.
It was all set for a desperately close call but Can’t Change It arrived in the nick of time to hit the line with a short head to spare.
Meanwhile, in other news, two Trillium Place horses remain in the Oaks after today’s five-day entry stage. The unbeaten Musidora Stakes winner Madame Chiang was among the band of 20 fillies left in, as was stable-mate Momentus who was third in the Lingfield Oaks Trial last month.
