Brave success for Montaser

26 May 2012

MONTASER repaid trainer David Simcock’s faith in him when he loomed up late to take the 1m 4f handicap at Haydock this afternoon (May 26). The Rail Link colt struck first time as a two-year-old and has beaten favourite on two of his three subsequent starts before today. But Simcock has always had belief in the bay who was given a well-timed ride from jockey Jim Crowley. Held up through the early exchanges, Montaser began to make headway from half a mile out and went second with 2f to travel. He still had a lot to do to reel in Rainbow Gold but got there with the line in his sight, going on to triumph by a neck at odds of 9/2. After the Thursday successes of Al Khawaneej and Gabrial The Hero, the latest winner was the third Simcock has sent out inside 48 hours, underlining the top form of the Trillium Place team.
