Debut strike for Trillium juvenile

BALIOS gave a most encouraging debut performance as he won well on debut this afternoon at Kempton.

Al Asayl Bloodstock's juvenile colt took a mile maiden in the style of a potentially classy campaigner for jockey Pat Cosgrave.

The son of Shamardal, who was well backed into 9/1, was settled in the middle of the pack during the early exchanges. Cosgrave eased him into contention with a quarter of a furlong to go and Balios hit the front approaching the final furlong.

He surged through the closing strides and won with some authority with the victory margin being a length and a quarter.

It was a very promising effort and bodes well for the colt's three-year-old season in 2015.
