Steady Major, Highland Games win

19 February 2015

THIS afternoon, trainer David Simcock has two runners in Meydan at the World Cup Carnival, but the 'home team' have already made it a good week.

Highland Games and Steady Major both secured victories for Trillium Place in the last couple of days, with chances of further successes on the all-weather circuit in the next 48 hours.
Highland Games won on just his second career start, taking a mile and a half maiden auction at Wolverhampton on Tuesday.
Ridden by David Probert, the son of Cape Cross ran on in good style to score by a length.
Twenty fours hours later and Trillium Place was celebrating again as Steady Major made it successive wins. He followed up a Southwell maiden triumph with an odds-on victory off a mark of 79 (with apprentice Tom Marquand claiming 7lb) in a mile and a quarter handicap at Lingfield.
Later today, the attention turns to Meydan where Victoria Regina contests the Group 2 Balanchine Stakes over a mile and a furlong.
At the same venue, four-year-old Calling Out has his first start for David since switching from France. He tackles a mile and a quarter handicap.
Closer to home - down the road from Newmarket at Chelmsford City - the stable have two runners under the floodlights in Precast and Lady Hare.
