Brilliant G1 win for Dreamer

19 August 2012

TRAINER David Simcock was celebrating a Grade 1victory on American soil last night as I’m A Dreamer landed the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington Park. It was a landmark result for the Trillium Place team as they recorded a first stakes success on that continent. The triumph will have been particularly sweet for connections as the five-year-old Noverre mare suffered a narrow reverse in the EP Taylor Stakes at Woodbine last autumn. Jockey Hayley Turner, who was aboard when stable legend Dream Ahead landed the July Cup in 2011, was also a key part of this latest landmark success. Riding I’m A Dreamer for the first time in over two years, Turner produced her mount after holding her up in the early stages of the extended nine-furlong race. I’m A Dreamer still had plenty of work to do upon hitting the front as Marketing Mix thrust late and fast in what was a thrilling race. But Simcock’s charge just had enough up her sleeve to hold on, scoring by a head at odds of 6.3/1.
