DESERT Encounter made the long journey to Scotland worthwhile with victory in a mile and a half median auction maiden at Musselburgh.
There were only three runners and the Trillium Place horse was the form pick, having finished third at Epsom on his previous start.
Trainer David Simcock's charge was a 4/9 shot and justified such a short price with a commanding performance.
He led with a quarter of a mile to go and had the race in safe keeping approaching the final furlong.
With jockey Tom Eaves aboard, the result was never in doubt through the closing strides and Desert Encounter hit the line with six lengths to spare.
