TRILLIUM Place got off to a flying start to 2016 with India's Song landing a fillies' handicap at Chelmsford on January 2.
The six-year-old Zamindar mare was the first runner of the year for trainer David Simcock and she was foot-perfect in delivering victory by a length and three quarters in the mile contest.
She appreciated the drop back in trip and strong gallop, coming with a strong challenge in the hands of apprentice Sophie Killoran.
The 7lb claimer had India's Song in touch before asking her to assert in the closing quarter of a mile.
The pair hit the front just inside the final furlong, going on to score in style.
It was the Julia Annable-owned India's Song's fourth career win.
On the same card, the stable's Bromyard was second in a mile handicap.
