Winning start for Barton Lodge

BARTON Lodge made the perfect start to his career with victory in a mile and a quarter handicap at Lingfield this afternoon.

The son of Fastnet Rock defied his inexperience to score by three parts of a length for jockey Jamie Spencer.
The 7/1 shot came with a strong late challenge, making ground from towards the rear to lead inside the final furlong.
There were signs of greenness in the closing stages but the Steffen Norris-owned colt was good enough to come home in front.
It was a very promising start to racing life by trainer David Simcock's charge who is entitled to progress from this debut triumph.
