Go Angellica and Breton Rock on target at Salisbury
01 September 2012
Go Angellica and Breton Rock provided the Trillium Place team with a double at Salisbury on Friday evening.
Go Angellica won the Listed Stonhenge Stakes in the hands of Eddie Ahern. The daughter of Kheleyf won her maiden on debut at Doncaster before finishing fourth in a very competitive Listed event at Sandown.
Only four runners headed to post for the mile contest and Eddie Ahern, aboard Go Angellica settled her just behind the leader Operation Chariot.
She was short of room with three furlongs to run but the gap opened at the furlong pole and she quickened up to take the lead and win comfortably by half a length.
The winning jockey said: “It takes a good one to quicken like she did through that gap and she should have a decent future.”
Earlier in the evening, Breton Rock made a winning debut in the 6f maiden. The son of Bahamian Bounty quickened up well in the closing stages to win by a length and a half.
The winning jockey, Martin Lane, said: “He is a lazy type at home so it was pleasing for him to win and he will probably get further.”
