Dubai duo poised for big day

TRAINER David Simcock will be represented by Sheikhzayedroad and The Corsican at tomorrow’s Dubai World Cup meeting at  Meydan.

Trillium Place has enjoyed plenty of success at the annual racing carnival – including at Group level – but has yet to notch up a winner on the World Cup card.

Sheikhzayedroad and The Corsican will be hoping to change that when they contest $6million Group 1 races.

Sheikhzayedroad, who scored in a Group 3 in the desert earlier in the month, will line up in the Dubai Sheema Classic.

David said: ““He has been here a while and knows what it is all about. He is fit, well and in good order.

“But he will need to run up to his very best and have a few of the others under-perform to be competitive.”

The Corsican was last seen out in the Champion Stakes at Ascot where he was sixth in October. The five-year-old tackles the Dubai Turf.

His trainer said: “He is in great form and I think that the track and the ground will suit him.

“He worked well when we took him away to Kempton three weeks ago and you could say things didn’t fall right for him on his final start last year at Ascot.”
