'Glass' shines at Kempton
08 September 2012
KEMPTON specialist Glass Office posted a career best effort as he raced to glory in the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes this afternoon.
The Verglas colt had recorded two previous career successes - both at the Surrey venue.
The second of those triumphs came in comfortable fashion in nursery company in mid August but this latest performance was a marked step up again.
He didn't just win, he slammed a high-quality field. Jockey Jim Crowley had him held up in midfield for much of the race but it was clear he had plenty of horse beneath him as they approached the final quarter of a mile.
The 12-strong field fanned out at the cutaway and the David Simcock-trained 12/1 shot suddenly found himself nicely in the open.
Glass Office went through the gears to lead by the furlong pole and fairly stormed home for a three-and-a-half length victory.
