Alcazar is latest 2-y-o winner!

ALCAZAR continued Trillium Place's recent fine run with its two-year-olds when landing a seven-furlong median auction novices' race on the all-weather at Newcastle yesterday.

The Rio  De La Plata colt had finished a promising fourth on his debut at Chepstow over six furlongs a fortnight earlier.
And he made the progression from that start to deliver a victory at odds on under jockey Jamie Spencer on his second assignment.
The David Simcock-trained juvenile was brought from the rear of the field to collar long-time leader Major Cornwallis late on.
In a battling finish, Alcazar showed plenty of resolve as he held that rival at bay to strike by a neck.
