'Fierce' delights on debut

FIERCE Impact couldn't have made a more promising debut than he did at Yarmouth this afternoon when he powered to victory in a mile maiden.

Qatar Racing's son of Deep Impact was sent off a relatively unconsidered 14/1 chance against eight rivals.
Jockey Jamie Spencer was always moving well aboard the colt who was never too far away from the front end.
Fierce Impact slipped through the gears to take control a quarter of a mile from home.
From that point the outcome never looked in doubt as trainer David Simcock's charge galloped out in good style for victory by a length and three parts.
