Birdman tackles Group 1

BIRDMAN will contest the final Group 1 of the British flat season on Saturday, the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster. The son of Danehill Dancer has had a fruitful 2012 campaign with two victories and a string of decent placed efforts in the top juvenile contests of the year. He was narrowly beaten by subsequent Group 1 scorer Olympic Glory in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket and was also third in a Group 3 at the Curragh. When last seen in action Birdman finished fourth in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting in September. Saturday’s contest looks competitive on paper with leading fancies Trading Leather, Kingsbarns and Steeler all set to face the starter.
