Trillium close in on new ‘PB’

17 December 2016

TRILLIUM Place equalled its record number of winners for a calendar year yesterday when Jordan Sport triumphed in a Class 2 handicap at Wolverhampton.

The victory was trainer David Simcock’s 84th of 2016, matching the stable’s previous best total.

If that tally can be surpassed in the closing two weeks of the year it would represent a tremendous achievement by the team and a reflection of its sustained dedication.

Jordan Sport, owned by Murt Khan and partners, was winning for the second time in 2016 – but this was his first victory at six furlongs.

Jockey William Carson always had him prominent; indeed he led through the opening exchanges.

Zac Brown took it up down the back straight but Jordan Sport was always poised to pounce.

Sure enough, the Simcock charge reasserted with over a furlong to travel and rattled home to score by a half a length at odds of 11/1.

This weekend the stable has two chances to reach that new ‘PB’ of 85 winners with Moonshine Dancer and Tell A Story in action at Lingfield tomorrow afternoon.

Fingers crossed for an early Christmas present…
