Mystic Dawn in Group 3 triumph!

MYSTIC Dawn gave Trillium Place its latest Group-race winner by taking the Summer Stakes at York this afternoon.

While her price of 20/1 suggested the result was something of a surprise, there was certainly no luck involved. This was a performance of class and guts in equal measure.

Jockey Stevie Donohoe deserves a huge amount of praise for his part in the triumph. He judged the ride on the Oasis Dream filly to perfection.

Held up through the early strides, Mystic Dawn didn't enjoy an entirely smooth passage but Donohoe didn't panic.

He switched the Al Asayl Bloodstock filly to the stands rail and she duly skipped through the closing exchanges.

The favourite Queen Kindly offered a stern challenge late on but Mystic Dawn held on by a short head for a hugely important victory that will significantly enhance her future broodmare status.
