First win for Maverick Officer

Maverick Officer won the seven furlong and one yard Novice Stakes at Lingfield Park this afternoon under Stevie Donohoe.
The two-year-old colt, by Exceed And Excel (AUS) out of Gradara (GB), was settled early in mid-field and still in contention and running strongly behind the leaders with two furlongs remaining. Donohoe asked for effort over one furlong out and Maverick Officer responded, picking up well to challenge and running on to take the lead in the last seventy five yards, winning well by three-quarters of a length.
