Confidence boost for New World Power
03 January 2018
NEW WORLD POWER scored his first race victory this afternoon taking the one mile four furlong Maiden Stakes at Southwell Racecourse and also gave the Trillium Place team their first win of 2018.
The five-year-old, by Deep Impact (JPN) out of Listen (IRE), was having his tenth racecourse visit and has always shown promise, so it was particularly pleasing to see him finish his race and cross the line in front.
Jockey Oisin Murphy settled New World Power in midfield and moved up to track the leaders from halfway, then asked for effort over two furlongs out and the pair took the lead over one furlong out, keeping on to win by one and three-quarter lengths. New World Power is trained by David Simcock for Qatar Racing Ltd.
