Brigh off the mark

25 February 2013

THE step up to a mile and a half worked the oracle for Brigh, who got off the mark at the third time of asking at Lingfield on Saturday. The daughter of Galileo had shown promise over a mile last autumn but, as her pedigree suggests, it is stamina where her forte lies. She was given a top ride by Hayley Turner, who settled Brigh at the rear of the field. Brigh was always travelling strongly and Turner went the shortest route, scraping the paint off the inside rail. On turning for home Turner went in pursuit of the leader, Aryal, and soon went past, winning convincingly at the line by three quarters of a length.
