DAVID Simcock has his two 2018 Group 1 stars Lightning Spear and Teppal primed and ready for action.
Unlike in the Sussex Stakes, things didn’t quite fall right from a wide draw for Lightning Spear in France last time out in the Prix du Moulin.
But the seven-year-old came out of the race fine and is in great heart for whatever autumn assignment that connections opt for.
David said: “It didn’t pan out for Lightning Spear in France last time but he seems in good order.
“He has options at Ascot on British Champions Day (the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes) and at the Breeders’ Cup (the Mile).
“He’ll be ready for either and is in great shape.”
Teppal gave her trainer a first Classic success when scoring in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches back in the spring.
That was her third straight victory before she went down to a first career defeat in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Not seen since then, David says: “She will head to either the Foret or the Sun Chariot – both races are scheduled for the same weekend.
“She looks great, physically, and her form is right back to where she was in the spring.”
