First win for Birch Grove

BIRCH GROVE has scored her first racecourse victory, taking the one mile one and a half furlong Novice Stakes at Nottingham this afternoon, under Joey Haynes.

Having only her third racecourse visit, the three-year-old filly settled well in mid-field and was shaken up to challenge over one furlong out, running on well to lead inside the final furlong and to win comfortably by one and a quarter lengths.
