Feature win for Smart Champion

SMART CHAMPION took the feature two mile handicap at Newcastle this afternoon under Callum Shepherd.

The five-year-old gelding was settled in rear and waited patiently until three furlongs out, when ridden to challenge. He was then switched left over one furlong out and battled to lead inside the final half furlong, winning by half a length.
