Ray Ward off the mark

RAY Ward became the latest winner from Trillium Place when getting off the mark in a mile and a quarter maiden at Lingfield this afternoon. The son of Galileo, who carries the colours of Mrs Fitri Hay, stepped up markedly on his debut when he was ninth at Kempton. He obviously learnt plenty that day and travelled well on the heels of the leaders under Martin Lane. Lane took over the running rounding the final bend and kept Ray Ward up to his work, winning by a length and a quarter. There was also encouragement from Edwyn Ralph who ran on strongly to take third in the same contest.
