GREAT Ormond deservedly got his head in front for the first time yesterday (Jan 17) at Wolverhampton as the Trillium Place team maintained their red-hot start to 2013. The Zamindar gelding had finished second in two of his three previous starts and was due a change a change in fortune. Trainer David Simcock opted to raise him in trip - from an extended nine furlongs to a mile and a half - for his latest assignment and the tactic paid off handsomely as jockey Andrea Atzeni secured a two-length success. Atzeni held him up from the gates before stealthily making progress around the bend into the home straight. The 2/1 shot led approaching the final furlong and stayed on strongly to score. The win followed an across-the-card double some 24 hours earlier with Whispering Warrior and Gabrial The Boss both justifying favouritism at Kempton and Lingfield, respectively.
