IT has been a case of ‘close but no cigar’ for Claude Greenwood in recent starts but he gained a deserved success in a 7f claimer at Leicester this afternoon.
The son of Lucky Story was given a strong front-running ride by Silvestre De Sousa, who made almost every yard of the running on the 6/1 chance.
Claude Greenwood edged right under pressure but De Sousa kept him up to his work and he ran out a good winner by two and a quarter lengths.
Tom Clover, assistant to winning trainer David Simcock, said: “He’s been knocking on the door so that was good. Silvestre has given him a very good ride.”
