Malekat Jamal too good at Windsor

10 June 2013

MALEKAT Jamal continued the fine run of the Simcock team with a convincing success in a mile fillies’ handicap at Windsor yesterday evening (June 10).

The David Simcock-trained filly was stepping up in trip having finished second over a furlong shorter at Yarmouth last time out.

The field set off at a fast pace and jockey Darren Egan settled Malekat Jamal at the rear of the field.

She raced enthusiastically before Egan switched to the outer to make an effort up the center of the track.

She took over the running at the furlong pole and was always holding the runner-up Miss Cap Estel, returning the winner by a neck.

Bruce Raymond, Rabbah’s racing director, said: “Malekat Jamal was a shell of a filly last year but she´s just coming to herself. She handles fast ground well and the longer trip helped - she lengthens rather than quickens.”
